The 2005 edition of the Alaska Geocoin is Alaska's first geocoin.  What makes this coin even more unique is that it was minted in Alaska by the Alaska Mint in Anchorage, Alaska.  An edition of 1500 (numbered 1-1500) brass coins and a special collector's edition of 300 (numbered 1-300) one ounce 0.999 silver coins were struck using the same dies.

Design ideas came from several cachers and RLTW pulled all the ideas together, worked some photoshop magic, and produced the coin design.  The Alaska Mint's artists then created highly detailed oversized clay scuptures from which the final die designs were created.

When logging your Alaska Geocoin(s), you may enter just the coin number and then choose "brass" or "silver" from the drop down menu, or enter the entire tracking number to log the coin in a single step.   The brass coins are designated with a 05B prefix that provides the mint year and coin material.  The silver coins are designated with a 05S prefix.  Therefore, if you have brass coin number 120, the tracking number is 05B0120.  If you have silver coin number 50, the tracking number is 05S050.
